October 2020,
Thinking about going outside of Manitoba for Post Secondary??
For the first time in 23 years, we face national and provincial government restrictions that prevent us from host the Canadian Universities Fair in person. As an alternative, a website has been created for our Manitoba students who are searching for the "right fit" when it comes to choosing a post-secondary institution:
https://www.canadauniversityfair.com/
This website provides information and links to virtual presentations for students and parents to carefully consider post-secondary institutions to which they are interested in applying.
Oh! The PLACES you'll go!
Things to consider when choosing your "right fit"
P - Programs
L - Location
A - Admissions Requirements
C - Costs
E - Extracurricular Opportunities
S - Support Services
Though we cannot physically meet face-to-face, we can do so here!
Post-secondary institutions, nationwide, once again, are making great efforts to reach students across the country to provide complete information and Q&A opportunities, so that students can be aware of the great range of higher education learning that is available in provinces across Canada!
On this site, you will find a list of participating institutions offering virtual presentations. Additionally, there are links to their websites for your convenience.
Join us in welcoming all representatives into our homes and schools, virtually of course!
Stay Safe,

Canada Student Services Grant ( Grade 12's going on to Post Secondary)
In response, the Government of Canada has created the Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG), a program that will provide thousands of qualified post-secondary students with learning and volunteer opportunities to address relevant COVID-19 challenges at Canadian not-for-profits during summer 2020. Students participating will be eligible to apply for a grant, which will provide up to $5,000 to be used towards post-secondary education costs. The grant is based on the number of validated volunteer hours completed between June 15 and September 15, 2020. Student volunteers receiving the Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) ($1,250 monthly) are also eligible to apply for a CSSG.

Students Attending Red River College
Academic Advisors are available to connect with students and answer any questions you might have about our academic programs and admissions process. Visit rrc.ca/advising to book an appointment.
RRC has updated some of our admission policies, to make things easier and safer for future students. Here are a few notable highlights;
Submission Deadline of Admission Requirements – The submission deadline for admission requirements is normally 30 days from the date of application. However, at this time we are providing applicants with a 30 day extension. For example, if you applied on March 1, your original deadline was March 31, but you will now have until April 30 to complete your requirements and submit your documents.
Academic Assessments for Admission – All in-person assessments have been cancelled until further notice. However, they won’t cancel your application if you can’t complete an assessment due to RRC’s campus closure. Please visit rrc.ca/assessment on a regular basis for updates about future in-person assessments and online options.
Students Attending University of Winnipeg
This has just recently been sent to me from the University of Winnipeg
A Message Regarding Final Grades and Offers of Admission:
During this time of uncertainty and abrupt changes, we would like to clarify a few important points for you and your grade 12 students.
At this time, conditional offers of admission/Special Entrance Scholarships, based on students' self-reported grades, are still in place.
The University will review final grades for students as per normal processes. If final grades are not made available, or schools have made alternative arrangements for students to complete their coursework due to COVID-19, the University will honour those arrangements and ensure the offers of admission for the upcoming term/academic year.
Please also note that provincial exams being cancelled will not affect the offers of admission. Special Entrance Scholarships will continue to be based on posted high school transcript grades for Manitoba students.
