    About this Research

    Liberation on the Dance Floor is a collaborative research project examining the role of popular music and collective dance within the lesbian and gay liberation movements in Canada. This research project is made possible by funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU).

    GCDC

    The Gay Community Dance Committee (GCDC) was a volunteer organization that hosted dances in Toronto between 1981-1992. Organized by a changing collective of activist and community groups, these dances funded gay and lesbian liberation in Toronto during the 1980s.
