The Ontario Cup Finals came to an end for eight divisions over the weekend at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan.

The Ontario Cup, which has staged a triumphant comeback in 2021, concluded for the U-15 Boys, as Glen Shields FC tooks on the Bolton Wanderers.

Glen Shields advanced to the finals after a dominant 7-1 win in their semi-final matchup against Caledon Sharks. The Bolton Wanderers edged Hamilton United Elite 1-0 in their respective semi.

Glen Shields got things going in the 12th minute when they worked their way into the Bolton 18 yard box. Kevaughn Tavarnier’s shot took a deflection off a Bolton defender but the weight of the shot carried it just over the keeper’s head, making it 1-0 Glen Shields.

Glen Shields would increase their lead in the 19th minute when Kynu Samuels’ blast from the edge of the box found the back of the net. Only moments before he had another goal disallowed because of offside.

Bolton would press to get on the board but were not able to find a way through in the first 45 minutes.

They continued to press throughout the second half but every time they got close their final touch just seemed to allude them.

Glen Shields would close out the match in the 37th minute when Newshawn Sutherland was sent in alone on a break. He would make no mistake in converting the opportunity and giving his team a commanding 3-0 lead.

They would close ranks from there, give Glen Shields keeper Gianluca Cinquemani his shutout and would be crowned U-15 Boys Ontario Cup champions.
