The Prostars defeated Erin Mills Eagles 3-1 to win the title

Play. Inspire. Unite.

Ontario Soccer kicked off 2022 on the right foot this weekend as the Ontario Indoor Cup wrapped up for four divisions.

The Ontario Soccer Centre played host to teams from across the province, as the U-13 and U-14 Boys and Girls divisions concluded their Indoor Cup campaigns in thrilling fashion.

In the U-13 Girls Division, the Mississauga Prostars were taking on the Erin Mills Eagles in the final.

In the first half, both sides set a frantic paces, routinely charging from one end to the other in a wide open first 25 minutes.

In the 17th minute, the Prostars finally found a way through. Prostars’ Saiya Grewel spotted the Erin Mills keeper off her line and pounced on the opportunity.

Her half volley from 30 yards out, sailed into the net past the outstretched arms of the keeper to give her side a 1-0 lead.

It would stay that way until early in the second half when Daniella Viduka did good work to wrestle possession away from her opponent and sent a seeing eye pass into the box for Isabella Lanzillotta. Lanzillotta made no mistake in burying her chance to lift her side to 2-0.

Prostars further extended their lead when Cordella Peric spotted the keeper off her line once again and her shot escaped Erin Mills and into the back of the net.

Erin Mills would draw one back with just four minutes remaining, when a shot deflected off a Prostars defender and found its way in for an own goal.

That would be as close as they would get however, as Prostars would shut the door the rest of the way and secure the U-13 Girls Ontario Indoor Cup title with a 3-1 win.
