Limestone Tutoring Resources: As part of the Ministry of Education Tutoring Grant, LDSB is offering an afterschool drop-in Virtual Tutoring Program for Limestone students in Grades 1 to 10. Tutoring will be available through MS Teams from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from October 11 until December 15, 2022. Tutoring will not be available on PA days or holidays. There are three grade groupings for students: Grade 1 to 3, Grade 4 to 6, and Grade 7 to 10. Tutors will provide Homework Help for students in the Grade 7 to 10 group. LDSB Tutoring Resources
Guidelines for Virtual Tutoring for Limestone Students
- The student must be logged in to MS Teams using their Limestone account. The student’s camera and microphone should be on so that the student and tutor can communicate more effectively.
- The student should have the materials that they need with them. The student should try to set up in an area in the home with minimal distractions for the tutoring session.
- There are four tutors available for each grade group each night and students can join a tutoring session by clicking on any of the four links for their grade. Students must only use the links for their grade level.
- If a tutor is already working with a student, subsequent students will be placed in the lobby of the meeting and then be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis once the tutoring session for the previous student is completed. Tutoring sessions will be 15 minutes long and may be extended if no other students are waiting.

"All the families we are supporting are survivors of forced displacement during the ongoing global migration crisis. Both outerwear (coats, snow pants, boots, hats, gloves, scarves, etc.) and innerwear (sweaters, etc.) will be gladly accepted. Financial donations and gift cards are also accepted and can be made via Canada Helps, or in person at one of our offices."
Donations will be accepted at the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour (53 Yonge St.) on November 2nd between 8:30am and 4:30pm and November 3rd between 8:30am and 6:00pm.
If it is easier, please send in your donations to Calvin Park PS by October 28th, and we will drop off the donations for you. Thank you.
Off-Property Lunch Forms Due on Tuesday, October 18th
On off-property days, students can leave school property from 12:15-12:55. During this time, they can walk home or go to a nearby restaurant or store to purchase lunch. Only students who return the signed consent form will be permitted to go off property. Please note that students are welcome to stay at school during this time and follow their regular lunch break/recess routines.
The off-property lunches will start on the following days:
Wednesday, October 19th - Grade 7 (and every Wednesday thereafter)
Thursday, October 20th - Grade 8 (and every Thursday thereafter)
Opportunities to make public transactions, such as the purchase of lunches at a restaurant or store, help students develop their financial literacy skills while also showcasing that they are becoming increasingly responsible and independent. With that being said, please note that Calvin Park PS staff do not provide off-property supervision.
Going off-property for lunch is subject to school approval in conjunction with guardian permission.
Yearbook Fundraising Bake Sale
Please support us in raising money! Ask your teacher for an order form - orders are due back by Wednesday.
