A COMET COMMUNICATION
Calvin Park Public School - September 11th, 2022
Welcome to Calvin Park PS!
We are proud to have a diverse group of students enrolled in our various programs: ATLAS, Core, Challenge, and LEAP. Already, we have seen so many activities taking place thanks to the prepartion and enthusiasm of the CPPS team, including STEM challenges (paper shoe challenge, egg drop, etc.), walking tours (Compton Park, pollinator gardens, etc.), atletics (soccer tryouts, running club announcement, etc.), and more!
This week, we hope to move forward with locker assignments and settle into our daily routines. As always, we also aim to foster a collaborative culture of learning!
We cannot wait to see what the school year holds for our students!

Being Good Friends:
- Calvin Park Public School is is committed to upholding human rights, and creating an equitable, inclusive, and accessible school for everyone. We know that diversity enriches our experiences and our school.
Scent Aware:
- Calvin Park and LCVI are 'Scent Aware', meaning that we ask all students, staff, and visitors to refrain from wearing strong scents of any kind to school. We have some people in our building who become very ill when exposed to strong scents, and we want to keep everyone comfortable and healthy.
Lockers:
- Lockers will be assigned by homeroom teachers within the first few weeks of school.
Supervisors:
- During nutrition breaks, recesses, and busing, students can always go to one of our many supervisors for assistance. Supervisors are easily identifiable in their orange vests.
Attendance:
- Attending class daily is essential to student success. If students are late, they must sign in at the office and get a late slip that they can present to their homeroom teacher. Students on buses that arrive later should also sign-in at the office, but they will not be marked as late.
- If a student is leaving early, they must have permission from a guardian and sign out at the office.
- To mark a student absent, please use the School Messenger App or the School Messenger SafeArrival Website Portal.
Cell Phones/Electronic Devices Policy
- Students are not permitted to have their cell phones or other electronic devices out during class time unless specifically allowed by the teacher to assist with a lesson.
- During our first nutrition break and recess (9:55-10:35), students are not permitted to have their cell phones and electronic devices out.
- Students are permitted to access cell phones and electronic devices during our second nutrition break/recess (12:-15-12:55).
COVID-19 Reminders
- All students should be screening for symptoms daily. Please check your LDSB email each day for the link to the screening.
- If you have symptoms, please stay home and self-isolate until you have no fever and your symptoms have been improving for 24 hours (48 hours for nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea).
- For 10 days after symptom onset or a positive rapid test result, please wear a well-fitted mask in all public settings (including school), avoid activities where your mask would need to be removed, and avoid high risk settings
