PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
As we welcome the month of November, I am filled with gratitude and joy for the vibrant faith community we share here at St. Catherine's. In the spirit of reflection and togetherness, I extend my warmest greetings to all our students, parents, and staff.
We begin this month grounded in our Catholic faith, commemorating All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, honoring the saints and remembering loved ones who have passed away. These days remind us of the rich tapestry of our faith and the call to live lives of holiness and compassion.
This month, we also celebrate Catholic Education Sunday on November 5, a day to recognize and give thanks for the gift of Catholic education. We are blessed to be part of a community that nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, and emotional growth of our students.
Along with Catholic Education Sunday, we are excited to host our first Faith and Art Showcase at the church on November 4 and 5, following all weekend Masses, featuring the artistic talents of our Grade 1, 5, and 7 students. This event is a celebration of creativity and faith, and we invite all families to join us in appreciating the beautiful work of our young artists.
Looking ahead, we will commemorate Remembrance Day on November 9 at 11 a.m., pausing as a school community to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who have served our country. This is a profound moment for us to reflect on the values of service and sacrifice, and to recommit ourselves to the pursuit of peace.
On a personal note, I am proud to highlight the celebration of Métis Week from November 13-17, a celebration very close to my heart as a Métis woman. This week is a time for us to honor the rich history, culture, and contributions of the Métis people. I look forward to sharing more about my culture and heritage.
As the month draws to a close, we look forward to connecting with parents and guardians during our Parent-Teacher Interviews on November 29 and 30. These conversations are invaluable, strengthening the partnership between home and school, and supporting the ongoing success of our students.
In this season of reflection and gratitude, let us cherish our shared faith, celebrate our community, and continue to support one another in our journey of learning and spiritual growth.
Wishing you all a blessed November,
Laura Houle-Tapson

LEARNING OUR SCHOOL
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN GRADE 7
Grade 7 has certainly had an enjoyable beginning to the school year. In our math class, we've dove into topics like the coordinate grid and operations involving decimal numbers. Over in Social studies, we've been exploring Canada's main indigenous groups, and in our science lessons, we've been discovering the multifaceted roles of plants in our lives, along with the factors that influence their growth and reproduction.
We were lucky enough to win tickets to the Hockey Hooky game a couple of weeks ago and went on a field trip to watch the Storm Hockey team. It was so fun and a great opportunity.
One awesome characteristic of this group of students is their genuine love for reading. Witnessing their enthusiasm for books is truly inspiring. Teaching them an absolute joy!

HALLOWEEN
GOOD NEWS
MESSAGE FOR BAND CLASSES
Hi Parents,
There have been a lot of students forgetting their instruments on a regular basis for band classes. The following is a list of the days that each class has band. Please help your child out - to remember their instrument AND their folder on their band class days;
5Bily - Wednesdays & Thursdays
5Menzies - Mondays & Wednesdays
5Przybylski/Collins - Mondays & Thursdays
6Plett - Mondays & Wednesdays
6Trydal - Mondays & Thursdays
6Lorenz - Tuesdays & Wednesdays
The students should always have their horns at home on the weekends (Thursday night) and back at the school on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday depending on when their first class of the week is.
The children are to be putting in at least 10-15 mins of practice 4-5 nights at home. This is to ensure your investment is being protected and your child continues to grow and love music!
Thanks so much for your support!
