Sydenham P.S. Update
October 16th 2023
Message from your Admin Team :)
Hello Sydenham PS Families,
We hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits as we welcome the beautiful month of October. It's been an incredible journey to see our students adapt and grow in the first few weeks of the school year, and we want to express our gratitude and thanks to all of you for your support and partnership.
A big thank you to our amazing SPS Staff for hosting our Open House. It was wonderful seeing so many parents and caregivers visiting our classrooms and seeing firsthand the amazing things that are happening at SPS!
We are excited to share some of the wonderful events and activities that are happening right now at Sydenham below:
- Cross Country is well underway and we are excited to have so many students participating in training three times weekly with Ms. Onyskiw, Ms. Reid and Mr. Richards. We wish all of our SPS students good luck as they head to the meet.
- Our Terry Fox run/walk was a huge success. Thank you to all families who joined us as we raised awareness for cancer research. Shoutout to M. Emmerson for his leadership.
- Experiential Learning experiences are beginning in classes. Ask about woodworking projects and baked apples:)
- The Grade 3/4 class will also participated in an experiential learning opportunity using our microbits with lead from our Innovation & Tech Enabled learning specialist from the board office.
- Grades 5, 6, 7 & 8 all travelled to Gould Lake for some outdoor learning and teamwork tasks.
- Our SK/1 & 3/4 classes spent a day in the forest learning about stewardship of the land.
We value the active involvement of parents in our school community. If you are interested in volunteering or participating in the School Advisory Council (SAC), please reach out to our SAC chair Connie Jenkins for more information.
Thank you for entrusting us with the education and growth of your children. Together, we will continue to create a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.
Wishing you all a fantastic October filled with learning, laughter, and lasting memories.
Your partners in education,
Mrs. MacDonald, Mrs. Barrett and the Sydenham PS Team :)
