Police seeking information on robbery in Upper Tantallon

April 15, 2024, Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia… Police is seeking information in relation to a robbery that occurred at a gas station in Upper Tantallon.

On April 13, at approximately 8:50 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of a robbery at a gas station on French Village Station Rd. RCMP officers learned that a man entered the business threw a bag on the counter and demanded it be filled with cash and cigarettes. The man then fled, boarding a Toyota Yaris waiting nearby, with $1,200 cash and cigarettes. No physical injuries were reported.

The male suspect is described as in his 40’s or 50’s, approximately 5-foot-10. He was wearing black Ecko hoodie, black pants, a ski mask and a ball cap with red.

The getaway vehicle, a 4-door red Toyota Yaris, had steel rims and was driven by an unknown person.

The investigation is ongoing and led by the General Investigation Section of the HRP/RCMP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

Man wanted on province-wide arrest warrant

April 11, 2024, Bramber, Nova Scotia… West Hants RCMP Detachment is seeking information on the whereabouts of a Bible Hill man currently wanted on a province-wide arrest warrant.

Daniel Rector, 36, of Bible Hill, is wanted and facing charges of:

  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (five counts)
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Tampering with Serial Number
  • Possession Contrary to Order (two counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Breaking and Entering with Intent
  • Theft (three counts)
  • Mischief
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking (three counts)
  • Failure to Comply with Order (eleven counts)
  • Failure to Attend Court (two counts)
  • Public Mischief (two counts)

Rector is described as 6-foot, 240 lbs. He has dark brown hair and green eyes.

Police have made several attempts to locate Rector, however are requesting assistance from the public.

Guysborough County District RCMP investigating suspicious fire

April 11, 2024, Halfway Cove, Nova Scotia… On April 4, at approximately 11 a.m., fire services, followed by Guysborough County District RCMP, responded to an active structure fire at a property near the 6700 block of Hwy. 16 in Halfway Cove.

Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers found firefighters working to extinguish flames at an unoccupied residence.

Based on the information and evidence gathered at the home, the fire has been deemed suspicious in nature.

The investigation, led by Guysborough County District RCMP, is ongoing; the Office of the Fire Marshal is assisting.

RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crime continues searching for Valdo Pauyo

April 8, 2024, Millbrook First Nation, Nova Scotia… The Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit continues to search for Valdo Pauyo who is accused of killing Douglas “Bert” Knockwood, 42-year-old, at his residence of Millbrook First Nation on July 12, 2021.

Valdo Pauyo, 29-year-old, commonly know as “C.J.” fled Nova Scotia immediately following the murder. The RCMP continue to work with other policing agencies and partners in the search for Pauyo who lived in Montreal, Quebec before coming to Nova Scotia.

Information was received that Pauyo changed his appearance after leaving Nova Scotia in 2021. Pauyo may have removed his dreadlocks and cut his hair shorter. The last description of Pauyo is that he would be between 5-foot-7-inches and 5-foot-9-inches, weight 210 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.

Police investigate break and enter

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a break and enter that occurred in Halifax last week where military equipment was taken.

On April 5 at approximately 3:45 a.m. officers responded to a break and enter that had just occurred at an apartment building in the 5600 block of Roberts Street in Halifax. The suspects entered the parking garage and broke into tenants’ storage lockers in the building. Building staff confronted the suspects and they fled the area on foot.

One of the suspects was located in the area a short time later and arrested after a brief struggle. The 40-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face one count each of break and enter and resisting arrest.

Among the items taken was a military style tactical vest, containing ballistic plates.

Police are looking to identify two more suspects. One is described as a white woman approximately 5’4” tall, 120 lbs., wearing grey sweatpants, a black raincoat, and a baseball hat. The other is described as a white man, approximately 5’8” tall, 150 lbs., wearing a black puffy jacket, a grey hooded sweatshirt, and black pants.

RCMP seeking information after replica handgun discharged at a youth

April 5, 2024, Middle Sackville, Nova Scotia… RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment isseeking information in relation to a shooting involving a replica firearm in Middle Sackville.

On April 3, RCMP officers learned that the day prior, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a male youth walking along Millwood Dr., near Beaverbank Cross Rd., was fired upon with a BB gun or airsoft replica handgun from a moving vehicle.  

The youth was not struck by the projectile and did not suffer physical injuries.

The vehicle involved in the incident is described as an older grey rusted sedan with silver rims.

The driver of the vehicle is described as a White youth male.

The passenger of the vehicle, who discharged the weapon, is described as a Black youth male.

Antigonish County District RCMP seeking information after shooting in Aulds Cove

April 4, 2024, Aulds Cove, Nova Scotia… Antigonish County District RCMP is investigating shots fired that left one man injured in Aulds Cove.

On April 3 at approximately 5:50 a.m., Antigonish County District RCMP, with the assistance of Inverness County District RCMP, the Antigonish-Guysborough Street Crime Enforcement Unit, RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP Forensic Identification Services and EHS responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on Hwy. 4.

Upon arrival on scene, officers located a 37-year-old Askilton man, outside of the residence, with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. An officer rendered first aid to the injured man while the other officers entered the residence to ensure no one else was injured.

The man was transported to hospital by EHS with non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, investigators believe the incident was targeted in nature and that there’s no risk to the public.

Police investigate robbery  

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred this morning in Fairview.

At 11:48 p.m. hours on Friday March 30th, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Shopper Drug Mart Pharmacy located at 3430 Joseph Howe Drive, in Halifax.  A woman was inside the pharmacy and stole property, security staff approached her when she exited without paying. When staff asked her to turn over the property she produced a needle and began to thrust it the staff in a stabbing motion. The staff members were not injured.

The female suspect is described as being a white woman, approximately 5’6” in height, 25-30 years of age, thin build, strawberry blonde hair, shoulder length, wearing a black Nike baseball hat, black jacket with black shirt undeneath, blue jeans, and thick rimmed glasses. The suspect got into a silver, or white coloured SUV.
