The Regional Municipality of Durham will begin reconstruction, urbanization and widening of Bowmanville Avenue (Regional Road 57) from north of the CP Rail Bridge to 400 metres north of Stevens Road, in the Municipality of Clarington, Town of Bowmanville. The work generally consists of:

Reconstruction and widening of King Street West (Regional Highway 2) from 240 metres west of Bowmanville Avenue to 220 metres east of Bowmanville Avenue.

Reconstruction and widening of Stevens Road from 60 metres west of Bowmanville Avenue to 130 metres east of Bowmanville Avenue (Munday Court).

Storm sewers within the project limits and concrete box culvert and creek realignment/improvements at Brookhill Tributary/Bowmanville Avenue crossing.

Multi-use path installation on King Street West from east of Bowmanville Avenue to 140 metres east of the CP Rail/King Street West overpass (Roenigk Drive).

Traffic control signal improvements at the intersections of Bowmanville Avenue/King Street West and Bowmanville Avenue/Stevens Road.

Street lighting improvements within the project limits.

300 mm diameter PVC watermain construction on Bowmanville Avenue from CP rail bridge to existing crossing of King Street West 60 metres east of Bowmanville Avenue.

Sanitary trunk sewer construction from Kings Hill Lane/Waverly Road to 240 metres north of Stevens Road on Bowmanville Avenue, via King Street West. Including trenchless installation under CP Railway right-of-way and open cut installation under Brook Hill tributary culvert.
Construction will begin in late September 2022 and is expected to be completed by spring 2024. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule. All roadways will be open to traffic for the duration of the contract. Lane restrictions down to one lane will occur during non-peak traffic hours and delays should be anticipated. A temporary full closure of Bowmanville Avenue between Stevenson Road and King Street (Reg. Hwy 2) will required to facilitate construction of a new culvert crossing and creek realignment. Further advanced Public Notices to confirm closure dates and detour routes will be provided.
