I am an Assistant Professor of International Relations in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto Mississauga. I am also affiliated with the Environmental Governance Lab.

I received my PhD in Political Studies from Queen’s University, where my research on the global governance of oil revenues was informed by extensive, comparative fieldwork in Gabon, Ghana, and South Africa, and was funded by SSHRC, the Centre for International Governance Innovation, and the Canadian International Development Agency. My work lies at the intersection of International Relations, African Politics, Global Resource/Environmental Politics, as well as Panafricanism and Black Female Internationalism. My current book project is based on my doctoral work, and investigates the significance of the Permanent Sovereignty over Natural Resources principle, with a specific focus on African sovereignty claims and norm-making within the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).
