2024 Pacific Distance Carnival &
Canadian 10,000m/10,000m RW Championships

As part of the 2024 Athletics Canada National Track and Field Tour, the 2024 Pacific Distance Carnival & Canadian 10,000m/10,000m RW Championships is a Track & Field meet designed to bring new excitement to long distance track racing while also offering Canadian & International Athletes an ideal environment to achieve personal best performances in the lead up to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Pacific Distance Carnival offers both Olympic and Paralympic competitions as well as opportunities for the next generation of athletes to compete alongside current and future Olympians who will compete in the National 10,000m Championships.

Mission

  • Deliver the best environment for our Canadian High Performance Athletes to compete at their full potential, in preparation for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
  • Bring a renewed spotlight to Distance Track Racing and the excitement of watching our Nation’s best athletes perform.
  • Provide an opportunity to connect recreational athletes with Canada’s best, allowing them to compete in the same setting.

*Competitors in Elite 5000m races must compete in footwear meeting World Athletics rules for shoe compliance (i.e. stack height <25mm).

CHASE THE PACE 5000m

For the road running enthusiast, come chase the pace on track!  Heats will be mixed races seeded by time, with heats going from slowest to fastest seed times.  Please note for these races only, NO SHOE CHECKS will be done. Please race in what you are accustomed to!

Canadian National 10,000m Championships

Open to both Canadian and International Athletes, the 2024 Canadian 10,000m Championship Event promises to be the highlight of the night! 25 laps of burn baby burn! This is not your average 10,000m and the name of the game is SPEED. In order to facilitate the speed we are setting the entry standards accordingly. Not racing? Come watch track side in the beer garden or tune in to our FREE live broadcast and cheer on Canada’s current and future Olympians!

Men: 31:30 (5,000m Equivalent: 14:53.00)
Women: 36:00 (5,000m Equivalent: 17:03.00)

Qualifying Window: January 1, 2023 – May 3, 2024
Open to both Canadian & International Athletes

If you do not meet the above minimum entry marks in the qualifying window please email the High Performance Director, Richard Lee to request entry.

Ce n’est pas votre 10 000 m traditionnel et tout se joue en VITESSE. Pour faciliter la vitesse, nous avons fixé le critère de qualification en conséquence. Vous ne courrez pas? Venez suivre l’événement dans notre brasserie en plein air ou suivez l’événement en direct grâce à notre webdiffusion GRATUITE et encouragez les Olympiens canadiens d’aujourd’hui et de demain!

Hommes : 31:30 (équivalent 5000 m – 14:53.00)

Canadian Championship 10,000m Travel Grants 

Canadian athletes (located outside of the Lower Mainland) will be supported with a maximum of four $500 travel assistance grants based on the following performance standards (5% off the 2024 Olympic 10000m standards):
Men’s – 28:21 (or 13:30 for 5000m)
Women’s – 32:12 (or 15:18 for 5000m)
Athletes meeting these standards should contact  Richard Lee .

Subventions de déplacement pour le Chapionnat Canadien 10 000 m
Les athlètes canadiens (situés à l’extérieur du Lower Mainland) recevront un maximum de quatre subventions d’aide au voyage de 500 $ basées sur les normes de performance suivantes (5 % des normes olympiques de 2024) :
