The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business magazine has once again partnered with the independent market research provider Statista to create the Canada's Best Law Firms list.
The aim of this list is to draw on the opinions and experiences of legal professionals to create a tool that will help companies select law firms best suited to their needs.
If you have any expertise in the field of legal services e.g. as lawyer in a law firm, paralegal, in-house lawyer or legal executive in a company, we would like to hear about your experience.
The 2025 survey can be completed here.
Participants must provide a business email address and are limited to one survey entry.

What will Canada’s Best Law Firms recognize?
The list will recognize the most widely recommended business law firms in Canada. Survey participants will be asked to recommend the law firms of their choice in various legal fields, including:

Who are you surveying?
The opinions and knowledge of legal professionals will drive the success of this initiative, which we hope will provide readers with a credible view of which firms stand out in Canada. We define legal professionals as lawyers or paralegals working for law firms, as well as individuals who work in legal departments as in-house lawyers, legal executives or counsels.
What firms are you evaluating?
All law firms with a branch in Canada can be nominated and recommended. Since it is an independent survey carried out by The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business magazine and Statista, all nominations come from participants in the survey. No prior registration is required for firms to be considered.
How are the winning companies identified?
The list will honour the companies that are most frequently recommended by the survey participants.
When and where will the Canada’s Best Law Firms list be published?
We published the list in the November issue of Report on Business magazine. The list will be published online in the Report on Business magazine section of The Globe and Mail’s website on October 23, 2024 and distributed in print to subscribers of The Globe and Mail on October 26, 2024.
How can I participate?
The 2025 survey period is scheduled for April 8 to May 31 2024.
The 2025 online questionnaire will be accessible during the survey period mentioned above. Interested persons may pre-register to receive the survey or may access the survey via a public link.
How do I know if my firm is among the winners?
Winning companies were notified by e-mail early in the autumn of 2024.
Can I nominate my own firm?
Nominating one's own company is not allowed. All persons who register are required to provide a valid business e-mail address and their contact information. Contributions from participants using private e-mail addresses and generic business e-mail addresses will not be considered. Please note that recommendations for one’s own firm or attempts to participate multiple times will not be counted. We reserve the right to exclude companies from the top list if we detect infringements of this rule.
Will participation in the survey be remunerated?
No. This is an independent survey and participation is voluntary.
How long will the survey take?
This survey will take just a few minutes to complete.
Will my individual responses be shared?
No. All responses will be confidential and anonymized.
Can I share the survey link with others?
You may share the link with other legal professionals (including members of your company) and customers. To participate, these persons may register using their business e-mail address and full contact information.
Is there a cost for firms to appear on the published list?
No. All winners are allowed to promote their success via press releases, social media, or on their websites. However, optional paid opportunities will be available to winners, including congratulatory advertising packages and a licensing fee for use of the “Canada’s Best Law Firms 2025” logo. This offer is open to all winners and voluntary.
Is the list of Canada’s Best Law Firms funded by a law firm or commissioned by a third party?
No. The list is funded, directed, and supported by The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business magazine and Statista.
