  • Grades 7 to 10: LIVE STEM: Wheels for Change (Wednesday, May 1, 2024)

    This broadcast has been tailored to complement Travel4Climate, a student-led action project aimed at learning about climate change through the effects of transportation. In this broadcast, students will develop their skills of brainstorming, reflecting and communicating as they explore how transportation impacts climate. This broadcast session will span a duration of 
    45 minutes, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for all participants.

    LIVE STEM is broadcast from classrooms in Saskatchewan, facilitated by Let's Talk Science and made available to schools across Canada via streaming services provided by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education. These co-learning broadcasts are embedded professional learning opportunities for educators to learn alongside their students. In addition to supporting reflective teacher practice, the broadcasts also provide post-learning opportunities for the educators as a way to extend student learning between broadcasts. All Broadcasts are connected to the Let’s Talk Science learning pathways.

  • 7e à la 10e année : STIM en direct : Des roues pour le changement : Le rôle des transports dans la lutte contre le changement climatique (Wednesday, May 1, 2024)

    Cette diffusion a été conçue pour compléter le projet < En route pour le climat >, un projet d'action mené par des élèves visant à étudier le changement climatique à travers les effets des transports. Dans cette diffusion, les élèves développeront leurs aptitudes au brainstorming, à la réflexion et à la communication en explorant l'impact des transports sur le climat. Cette séance de diffusion aura une durée de 45 minutes, garantissant une expérience d'apprentisage complète pour tous les participants.

    STIM en direct est diffusé à partir des salles de classe de la Saskatchewan, animé par Parlons sciences et mis à la disposition des écoles du Canada via les services de diffusion en continu fournis par le ministère de l'Éducation de la Saskatchewan. Ces diffusions en co-apprentissage sont des opportunités de formation professionnelle intégrées pour les enseignants et enseignantes qui apprennent aux côtés de leurs élèves. En plus de soutenir la pratique réflexive des enseignants, les diffusions offrent également des possibilités de post-apprentissage pour les enseignants et les enseignantes afin d'enrichir l'apprentissage des élèves entre les diffusions. Toutes les diffusions sont liées aux parcours d'apprentissage Parlons sciences.

  • LIVE Arts -- Page Poetry with Katherine Lawrence (Grades 1-8) (Tuesday, April 23, 2024)

    Artist Biography

    Katherine Lawrence has published four poetry collections and a novel-in-verse for young adults. Her most recent book, Black Umbrella (Turnstone Press, 2022) is a poetic memoir. Her work has been honoured with several awards, including the John V Hicks Long Manuscript Award for both Black Umbrella and Never Mind (Turnstone Press, 2017). Stay (Coteau Books, 2017; Shadowpaw Press, 2022) won the North American Moonbeam Award for children’s poetry. She is also a recipient of the Best First Book Award from Saskatchewan Book Awards for Ring Finger, Left Hand (Coteau Books, 2001). Her work has been published across Canada. She holds an MFA in Writing from the University of Saskatchewan and is a previous writer in residence with Saskatoon Public Library. Katherine makes her home in Saskatoon. www.katherinelawrence.net

  • Spotlight on Safetycare and Safetyhub Resources (Thursday, August 4, 2022)

    Safetycare produces engaging workplace safety training video content that is used and viewed by organizations around the world. These safety videos are available in formats that can be streamed on any number of devices – including iPhone, iPad, PC, Mac, Laptop or Android. Through a provincial license, students and teachers in Saskatchewan have access to the full Safetycare collection (French and English) and the Safetyhub learning management system which includes multiple choice assessments with the videos. 

    Look for the Safetycare button on ROVER for access to the full video collection.

    The resource supports the Government of Saskatchewan’s partnership with the Saskatchewan Safety Council on education safety initiatives and injury prevention outcomes in Saskatchewan curricula.
