Lifetime Achievement Award - OPEN until April 1, 2024

The objective of the Lifetime Achievement Award is to honour a distinguished member of the Canadian microscopy community who has made significant long-term contributions impacting the field at both a national and international level.

Nominations are now open until April 1, 2024.

Eligibility: Senior Principal Investigator (PI) with established record of excellence and contribution to the field of microscopy in Canada

 

Evaluation Criterion: Long-term record of landmark contributions to the field of microscopy research, with evidence of international impact, based on the candidate’s curriculum vitae, 2-3 letters of support from arms-length referees, and nominator statement.

 

Frequency: Nominations to be accepted every 4 years

 

Recipient will receive: $5,000 + honorary lifetime membership to MSC/SMC + certificate + travel expenses for annual meeting to receive award

 

Nomination Process:

  1. Nominations will be solicited by email sent to all current MSC/SMC members. The nominators will be asked to submit a short supporting statement (~250 words) explaining why they feel the candidate should receive the award. Nominations will be submitted through the MSC/SMC website. The nominations process will be open for 4 weeks.
  2. Nominated candidates will be reviewed to confirm they meet the eligibility criteria, and contacted to determine if they accept the nomination. The nominator or the nominee will provide through the MSC/SMC website:
    1. A nomination letter introducing the candidate and explaining the nominee's achievements to make them deserve this award. (2 pages maximum).
    2. A copy of the nominee's curriculum vitae.
    3. 2-3 letters of support from established experts in their field at arms-length
