Specialty Family Practitioner/General Practitioner

Subspecialty General

Role and Facility Information

We invite you to consider a unique opportunity to join a busy family practice providing primary care and urgent episodic care in the treatment room in the Pender Island Health Care Centre (http://www.penderislandhealth.org).

In this position you will join two other family physicians and two nurse practitioners, as well as a well-trained group of MOAs in this well-established, collegial and well-equipped clinic that uses MedAccess EMR. While meeting patient needs and the minimum contractual requirement of 1,680 hours/year, there is flexibility to establish clinic hours and workdays to suit your practice model. Remuneration is paid through an Alternate Payment Program Service contract. On-call responsibilities are shared 1:4 with colleagues on Mayne and Galiano Islands and compensated though a MOCAP level two contract. There is grant funding to cover office overhead, making this a turn-key practice.

There are no X-ray or inpatient facilities on Pender, so patients requiring treatment beyond the scope of the clinic are sent to Vancouver Island, by ferry or EHS water taxi or helicopter. BC Ambulance Service is situated beside the clinic and provides 24-hour ambulance service to Pender Island.

Specialist supports include RACE and e-RACE consultation and Real Time Virtual Support services, and phone consultation with specialists on Vancouver Island.
