Book 1: “The Apprenticeship of Molly Chant: A Historical Dive into Newfoundland Traditions, Superstitions, and Folklore” introduces us to 16 year old Molly Chant, a young Irish healer and wise woman with the gift of sight, facing charges of witchcraft and the penalty of hanging. The year is 1869. Her one chance for escape is to follow her friend Mick to the desolate island of Newfoundland and the tiny out-port of Silver Cape Cove.
Book 2: “The Healer’s Journey: A Historical Dive into Newfoundland’s Traditions, Superstitions, and Folklore” follows young Newfoundland fisherman Thomas Moore, rescued from death as an infant by Molly, as he deals with World War 1 and its after effects and the discovery of his own “gifts” of healing.
Both books are filled with the folklore and traditions of Newfoundland as well as the haunting natural beauty of “the Rock”. Weaving stories of love, loss, sorrow, betrayal, survival and community into a coastal Newfoundland hamlet, these books will leave you wanting more and anxiously waiting for Book 3 of the Silver Cape Cove series.
