BCcampus Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Explorer Challenge

Are you adventurous?

Do you like exploring new opportunities for learning that will improve your practice? Are you a faculty member passionate about reducing barriers and enhancing learner voices in your course? We warmly invite you to join the BCcampus Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Explorer Challenge this fall.

What will you do?

We have eight challenges to be released over a five-week period. A challenge involves doing one thing to embed one of the three principles of UDL in your course. Each challenge should take about 20 minutes, but it really depends on you. You can explore and complete all challenges at your own pace and at a time that works with your schedule.

Who is this for?

We invite all faculty who are interested in reducing barriers for students. Whether you are new to UDL or have long been implementing UDL in your course design, this is an opportunity to work with colleagues to explore, reflect, and share best practices.

What can you expect?

When you sign up for the series, you will receive a welcome email, plus a challenge in your inbox on Mondays and Thursdays. Venecia Williams and Heidi Parisotto will be your UDL captains on this journey. Emails will be labelled the BCcampus UDL Explorer Challenge — you may have to check your junk folder. There will be a post for each of the eight challenges, and at the end of each week, we will do a recap of each challenge. You will be invited to share your response in the comments section of each challenge or join a community of UDL explorers in our Mattermost channel. Participants who complete all eight challenges will be entered to win a prize.

How can I get started?

The UDL Explorer Challenge launches on October 17 — don’t miss it! While registration is free, we require you to complete a registration form to ensure the challenges land in your inbox. Registration will close on October 16.
