Description Michael Opdenacker 2021-08-10 17:14:03 UTC
Greetings

I struggle to find information about until when each release is going to be supported. I looked at https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Releases#Release_Activity but such information is not available.

Is such information available on any public page?

I believe that's important to make such information easier to find, because it is important for project management.

It could be on the releases page or in the documentation itself, or even better, on both.

Don't hesitate to re-assign this bug under the "Documentation" category.
Thanks in advance
Michael.

Best to spread that info around to:
https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Releases
and other places.

Added details about expected EOL dates for current releases to https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Releases#Release_Activity

However, I still believe the website release pages and/or documentation should still include such information.

Actually, something useful would be to add the EOL information to our "Downloads" page. This way, people would immediately see until when each release is support and this would help to make a choice.

This way, instead of proposing in the "RELEASE" dropdown menu:
YP Core - Honister 3.4.2 - 2022.02.20
YP Core - Hardknott 3.3.5 - 2022.03.02
YP Core - Gatesgarth 3.2.4 - 2021.05.17
YP Core - Dunfell 3.1.14 - 2022.02.16
YP Core - Zeus 3.0.4 - 2020.08.21

We would have:
YP Core - Honister 3.4.2 - 2022.02.20 - Supported until 2022.05
YP Core - Hardknott 3.3.5 - 2022.03.02 - Supported until 2022.03
YP Core - Gatesgarth 3.2.4 - 2021.05.17 - No longer supported
YP Core - Dunfell 3.1.14 - 2022.02.16 - Supported until 2024.04
YP Core - Zeus 3.0.4 - 2020.08.21 - No longer supported

However, looking at the corresponding page in WordPress, I haven't found where such information is taken from.

Nico, do you know how?
What do you think?
By the way, do we still need to propose downloads for no longer supported releases?

Thanks in advance
Michael.

FYI, 3.3.5 was just released and there is a 3.3.6 in ~ April, 2022.

Good to know, thanks!
I extended support for Hardknott until April in the Releases page, then.
