What is the COSPEI Gold Rush?

Home and Schools across the Island are collaborating to raise funds to Create Opportunities for Students.

Creating Opportunities for Students on PEI (COSPEI) Gold Rush is an ongoing year round weekly raffle to raise funds for participating Home and Schools across the Island.

You can support your Home and School directly every time you play. Each week you have the opportunity to activate up to four strips of tickets (each strip has three tickets) in order to win 50% of the weekly pot. Each strip of tickets is only $5.00! Every Tuesday at 1pm, a number will be randomly drawn from the total available numbers (both active and inactive numbers), and if the number drawn has been played (paid) that week, the owner of that ticket will win BIG! If the number is not played the pot will carry forward until a played number is drawn another week.

How are the funds used?

All funds raised will be used to support your own home and schools’ initiatives such as breakfast and lunch programs, equipment for the school or the school yard, sports, music, drama, academic supports, school trips, etc.

How does the school I select benefit from my support?

Every week that you play, a portion of your ticket purchase goes directly to the school you choose to support. So they benefit every week that you play. You do not have to win for your school to benefit from your contributions.

How do I change the school I’m supporting?

You can change the school you are supporting at anytime by clicking on “Manage Your Donations” in the dashboard menu.

On a mobile device, click the three lines in the top left corner to show the menu, then continue as above.

Select the specific school you wish to support.

This will remain as your selection until you change it. You can change it every time you play if you would like! You can also buy multiple strips of tickets in one raffle, and select a different school when purchasing the additional ticket strips.

Receipts, Payment & Ticket Numbers

How do I change the credit card on my account?

Log into the game. On the left menu, you will see an option to Manage Payment Info. Follow the instructions on that page.

Can you remove some of/all of my numbers?

COSPEI appreciates your support. We are sorry to see you go.

Please email cospeigoldrush@gmail.com and we will issue a service ticket to Causable to have your numbers deactivated from the game.

It may take a few days. We will send you a message to confirm when the numbers have been deactivated.

Where is my receipt?

Every purchase you make to play tickets in our raffles will generate an email receipt sent to the email you used to create your Causable account. The email will be from no-reply@causable.io

Subject line: Thank you for playing COSPEI Gold Rush

It contains:

• The numbers you played
• Cost
• Date and time of transaction
• Date and time of the draw that the tickets are for
• Confirmation number
• Our Lottery License number

If it is not in your inbox, the email receipt may be in your promotions, junk, or spam folders.

I don’t think these extra ticket numbers belong to me?

Sometimes when players intend to play their original strip of tickets (by clicking Pay + Play beside the strip), they select “Buy more tickets” instead. This purchases a new strip of three tickets that get added to your dashboard and are assigned to you forever.

You have the option to play any strip on your dashboard, play all tickets at once, purchase new strips, or not play at all each week.

Was I charged twice?

It is possible that you played twice on draw day (Tuesday) – once before the draw, and again after the draw for the following week.

Check your email for your purchase receipts from past raffles you played. You can search your email for messages from “no-reply@causable” and/or for emails with the subject line “Thank you for playing COSPEI Gold Rush”. The “thank you for playing” emails are your receipts for your purchase and will show you the tickets you purchased that week.

I can't play! What's wrong?

We’re just setting up the next draw.

If you see a person laying down bricks, don’t worry! This screen appears when it is time to draw the winning ticket for a raffle, and for a few minutes following the draw as we set up the next raffle. (or for occasional software updates)

Re-captcha (I’m not a robot) screen isn’t fully visible?

This is a known re-captcha problem that only happens occasionally on certain phones and devices.

We suggest that, if this happens on your phone, you click the headphone button to hear an audio challenge instead.

If you are still having trouble, you may want to do this step on your computer this time, and the next time you play on your phone, you may have a different re-captcha experience, or not be prompted at all.

“When we first started the Causable Gold Rush I have to be honest, it sounded too good to be true. There were no start up or registration costs, nothing to sell, and there would just be money
deposited into the school account every month. My skepticism soon faded after we got on board. The Gold Rush took off in our community and within a year we went from fundraising $50 a week to over $700 a week. And it’s still growing!
It has generated a sense of excitement and chatter in our building and a few people in the community have won large jackpots.
The money that has been raised is used toward extra-curriculars in the school such as busing for special events, student council expenses, guest speakers and the list goes on. All of this within a calendar year and I just send a reminder email once a week to staff and parents. The rest is looked after! It’s a win-win for everyone!”

Once some of our parents got involved, word just spread naturally.
Causable sends out a weekly email reminder, and then we just send the message out to our parent community through School Messenger. Parents/staff who play can choose AutoPlay which ensures they are automatically in every draw, or players can choose when they want to play.

“Birchwood Intermediate School started actively participating in the COSPEI Gold Rush in April of 2023. Initially, our Home and School President and I met with organizer Chris Huggan to learn about the fundraiser and how it could work for our Home and School. Since that initial meeting, we have raised over $4000 for Birchwood’s Home and School.
These funds have been used to help support students in need, as well as purchasing items for our school that we cannot afford in our regular school operating budget.
This fundraiser is so easy! Each Tuesday, we receive an email prepared by Chris. We then push that email out to our parent community and post on our Birchwood Home and School Page. We receive weekly reports to let us know how many participants supported Birchwood and the amount of funds raised for our school that week.
Since starting with 3 participants last April, we have now grown to 224 participants supporting Birchwood in last week’s draw. This is a great fundraiser for Home and School!”
