Extended Winter Break

January 4-7: No School

Winter Break has been extended for one week. Your brain and your body will thank you if you do two things:

1) read - something, anything!!

2) get moving - move your body, go outside (brr)

I've got some movement breaks you can access below and don't forget to log into RAZ kids or Reading A-Z.

LITERACY
THREE THINGS PARENTS CAN DO

Kids really do want to be like YOU! Let them see you reading and writing in regular life. You could let them open the mail with you or help with the grocery list. You can help them see that reading is needed outside of school every day.

Reading in a quiet spot with a still body will help them notice patterns and read more fluently. It actually helps them far more if they can read out loud or in a whisper voice. Bedtime is PERFECT for this!

Just 20 minutes a day will make a difference in your child's literacy skills. You can help by simply listening to them read or reminding them to read before bed.

Story Time

Let's enjoy some story time. Find a cozy spot and snuggle down. You can read along or you can listen. Watching the words still counts.
