Mask Policy and Isolation Requirements Update
In alignment with provincial directives regarding isolation requirements for COVID-19 positive and presumed positive individuals, guidance regarding returning to campus after illness is as follows:

Isolation and Return to Campus Instructions

If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have received a positive result for COVID-19 on a PCR or rapid antigen test, you must self-isolate, complete the Ontario COVID-19 self-assessment and follow public health direction.

  • Do not return to campus until symptoms have been improving for 24 hours (or 48 hours if gastrointestinal symptoms) with no fever present.
  • Asymptomatic individuals with a positive test result do not need to self-isolate unless symptoms develop. If symptoms develop, they should self-isolate immediately.
  • For those living in high-risk settings or those who are immunocompromised, additional isolation requirements may be required. Please complete the Ontario COVID-19 self-assessment and follow public health direction provided.

The following illustration outlines an example isolation and mask requirement scenario. Symptoms may be shorter or longer than what is presented here. Please note the following:
  • An additional 24 hours is required prior to returning to campus after symptoms subside.
  • You are required to wear a mask in all public spaces for 10 days after a COVID-19 positive test (or presumed positive based on symptoms).
Regardless of vaccination status, COVID-19 positive and presumed positive (symptomatic) individuals must follow additional public health measures. For 10 days after symptom onset (or 20 days for immunocompromised individuals), you must:
  • maintain masking in public settings (including on campus);
  • do not visit or work in any highest-risk setting; and
  • do not visit vulnerable individuals (e.g. immunocompromised individuals or seniors).
  • Prior to entering a campus building, individuals should review the screening questions posted at entrances. If you are unable to answer "no" to all posted screening questions, do not enter the building and email covid19reporting@uwindsor.ca for instructions.
Reminder: Illness Reporting

To ensure the health and safety of yourself and members of the UWindsor community, students and employees (faculty and staff) are required to follow health and safety protocols, including reporting illness and not attending campus when feeling sick. Illness should be reported to covid19reporting@uwindsor.ca.

Students:
  • Reporting an Illness - Students
  • Students who are unable to complete an assessment due to illness should report their illness using the Illness Reporting form in UWinsite.
  • If you are in a student placement, you are asked to follow your faculty’s and/or departmental/school procedures.
