Health & Safety Update
As part of the University of Windsor’s ongoing efforts to monitor and screen for COVID-19, regular samples of wastewater across campus are analyzed. The University has confirmed that a wastewater sample associated with the Alumni Hall residence building indicated the presence of SARS-CoV-2.

As a proactive measure, once alerted to Saturday’s wastewater results, the University immediately enacted its COVID-19 protections and protocols and in consultation with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, residents and staff of Alumni Hall were directed to:

  •   Monitor daily for COVID-19 symptoms for the next 10 days
  •   Stay a two-metre distance from others
  •   Wear a mask when others are present
  •   Wash hands thoroughly and often
  •   Consider getting tested using the University’s COVID-19 testing facilities

Through the University’s testing processes, one positive case has been identified. The individual who tested positive for COVID-19 has been relocated and is receiving support from the Health Unit, Student Health Services and Residence Services.

Due to the University’s robust health and safety protocols on campus, the exposure risk to other staff, faculty and students is considered extremely low.

As a reminder, if you are currently experiencing symptoms or should you develop any symptoms, get tested, self-isolate and contact the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit or your health care provider.

The University of Windsor is committed to:
  • providing a safe and healthy workplace and learning environment for its employees, students and visitors,
