Non-Hospital Medical and Surgical Facilities Accreditation Program

Accreditation of Non-Hospital Medical/Surgical Facilities (NHMSF) that do not fall under the jurisdiction of Regional Health Authorities, is governed by the Accredited Facilities Bylaw through the Program Review Committee. The Committee grants accreditation status and advises CPSM Council of matters pertaining to NHMSFs.

Each non-hospital medical surgical facility, its professional and technical personnel, its equipment, its space and its safety procedures must at all times meet the minimum standards established by the Committee.

Accredited Non-Hospital Medical Surgical Facilities 

Full Accreditation: Where a facility fully complies with the relevant requirements, the Program Review Committee will grant full accreditation and will specify with the certificate of accreditation the procedures for which the facility is accredited.

Conditional Accreditation: In circumstances where a facility does not comply fully with all the requirements for accreditation, and if the Program Review Committee deems it adequate for patient safety, conditional approval may be granted for the operation of a facility pending the completion of the accreditation process or while it corrects specified deficiencies.

Temporary Accreditation: Temporary accreditation may be granted for the continued operation of a facility if the facility is already accredited, in circumstances which the Committee deems appropriate, pending the completion of the re-accreditation process.
