KAIROS Blanket Exercise
Students in the upper level Sociology course entitled Indigenous Resurgence will participate in a KAIROS Blanket Exercise.
Indigenous community members will be invited to facilitate this experiential workshop that explores the nation-to-nation relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada.
Students actively engage in learning the history of colonization in Canada by walking in the shoes of Indigenous peoples through 500 years of colonization to the present day. The activity concludes with a Talking Circle, an Indigenous pedagogical approach.
The KAIROS Blanket Exercise was developed in response to the Calls to Action of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission (TRC). Through this activity, students are directly participating in the Calls to Action.
