Disabled journalist Dave Lupton aka cartoonist Crippen has interviewed several disabled artists about their introduction to the Social Model understanding of Disability. As well as describing how it has influenced their lives and artistic practices, the articles provide an insight into how disabled people continue to use this understanding to confront discrimination.

In a nutshell the Social Model understands disability as the lived experience of barriers giving disabled people agency to identify and take action against discrimination, putting equality and human rights as a central focus to our understanding of disability.
