Navigating Next Steps: So You’re about to Graduate - What Now?

Welcome to the Professional Development Speaker Series, hosted by the Rotaract Club of Kingston.

Will you be graduating soon? Are you thinking about staying in school but unsure what steps to follow to get started? Are you curious about what options even exist for continued education?

This month, our Speaker Series features a panel of esteemed guests as they lead us through their personal experiences with next steps following graduating from undergrad. All of the featured panelists are either current Graduate/Professional students or recent graduates, and therefore understand how hard it can be to discover, apply for, and be accepted to post-graduate opportunities. Our panelists offer a diverse and unique perspective into both traditional and non-traditional routes for development and success following graduation.

The panelists:

Chloe Soutar is a Research Strategy Development Specialist at University Health Network. She completed her PhD in Neuroscience at Queen’s University. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, she completed a BScH (2012) and MSc (2014) in Psychology.

Sarah Beech is a Master of Science student at Queen’s University in the Freshwater Fisheries Conservation Lab. She completed her Bachelor of Science in 2018 at Queen’s with a major in Biology. Sarah is also currently an aquatic biologist at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

Hannah Julseth is currently a first year Medical Student at Deakin University in Geelong, Australia. Prior to studying medicine, Hannah completed her Masters in Management of Applied Science (MMASc) at Western University in 2020 and her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Life Sciences at Queen’s University in 2019.

Mustafa Ansari is a Master of Management Innovation & Entrepreneurship graduate (2019) from Queen’s University. Mustafa currently manages a co-working space in Downtown Kingston called ‘k.work’. Prior to MMIE, Mustafa completed his BBA from SZABIST in Karachi, Pakistan.
