Thank you for your interest in providing accommodations for war-displaced Ukrainians through the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Nova Scotia Branch (UCC NS).
 
This intake form will allow UCC NS to collect the information needed to facilitate a match between potential hosts and Ukrainians arriving under the Canadian-Ukrainian Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) program. The information may be shared with two local settlement service providers that are supporting Ukrainians as they arrive in Nova Scotia and the province of Nova Scotia’s Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration (LSI).

UCC NS is collecting information and facilitating matches, and by submitting this form, you agree to UCC NS releasing all information to third party providers if needed. After your submission, pending receiving your Police Record Check – Vulnerable Sector, UCC will use the information for matching purposes based on the need of arriving war-displaced Ukrainians. You will only be contacted if a suitable match is identified. Once a housing match is arranged, UCC will be in touch with you directly to arrange all details.

UCC kindly asks you to complete both steps when submitting your accommodation offer. The form in Step 2 can be completed before you receive your completed police record check.

Step 1: Complete a Police Record Check – Vulnerable Sector

All UCC volunteers and housing providers are subject to a Police Record Check – Vulnerable Sector specifically for engaging with newly arrived war-displaced Ukrainians of all ages, including children and the elderly. In addition to hosting such individuals in your home, volunteers or hosts may accompany clients to appointments or escort them to community-based programming. These individuals may have limited knowledge about the culture or English language, which makes them vulnerable in our society when they first arrive, regardless of their age. As such, any person wishing to host an individual or family in their home must demonstrate a clean Police Record Check – Vulnerable Sector.

You can visit a local police station or RCMP dispatch to complete your Police Record Check. When residing in HRM, you can also apply for this police record check online. The process is simple and may have a small cost associated with it which the host is responsible for. Please Note: UCC is vetting hosts through valid Police Records Checks (i.e., completed within last 6 months) and follow up interviews. UCC is not providing site visits to the housing being offered and we do not guarantee a match will happen nor can we guarantee any time frame on the match within the available dates specified in this form.
