During this challenging time of the pandemic, The Archdiocese of Winnipeg - Office of Catechetics & Faith Development needs your assistance in learning about the resources and approaches used to facilitate evangelization & catechesis in RCIA in the parish . With your feedback, we can propose an RCIA calendar for celebrating the initiation rites outside the usual times. With your response, we will be able to compile a collection of an online resource list which will be shared to the parishes.

4. The following is the Outline of the RCIA Process before the Rite of Election, please check the period or step that apply in your parish.

PERIOD OF EVANGELIZATION AND PRECATECHUMENATE - This is a time, of no fixed duration or structure, for inquiry and introduction to Gospel values, an opportunity for the beginnings of faith.

FIRST STEP: ACCEPTANCE INTO THE ORDER OF CATECHUMENS - This is the liturgical rite, usually celebrated on some annual date or dates, marking the beginning of the catechumenate proper, as the candidates express and the Church accepts their intention to respond to God's call to follow the way of Christ.

PERIOD OF THE CATECHUMENATE - This is the time, in duration corresponding to the progress of the individual, for the nurturing and growth of the catechumens' faith and conversion to God; celebrations of the word and prayers of exorcism and blessing are meant to assist the process.

5. How many are seekers or precatechumenate? (The Precatechumenate is "the inquiry stage". For individuals, this is the stage when they might first contact the parish about their interest and start attending inquiry sessions or meeting privately with a priest or catechist).

6. How many are catechumens? (By means of the RCIA Process interested unbaptized persons become Catechumens, and Catechumens become full members of the Catholic Church by means of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist, which are referred to as the Sacraments of Initiation.)

7. To support one another during this time, please share creative resources (books, programs, approaches/methods) that your parish has found useful to assist with the delivery of ongoing RCIA Process. Kindly list 2-3 and provide details for references (title, author, website link, etc.)
