Interpreting Your Score. Your score is a very rough tool for thinking about your current interest in, and your own perception of your preparation for , (traditional) leadership roles. Note that a low score does NOT indicate you cannot be a leader, but it can help point you to areas for growth, or may lead to reflection about your own prefernces for non-traditional leadership roles as you chart your personal career path.
26
Total Score Possible interpretation
27
80 - 100 You have a strong desire to lead & perceive that you have acquired many of the personal competencies required to be a successful leader. Now may be a good time to consider refining your skills, identifying the types of new roles you wish to pursue, and firming up connections with sponsors or programs that may be able to support your aspirations.
28
50 - 80 You are interested in leadership and have begun to acquire the skills needed to be a successful leader. Consider the areas where you may need to build skill and identify opportunities to acquire these skills, whether informal (e.g., being involved in committees or processes where you can observe the approach of leaders you admire) or formal (e.g., leadership development programs, mentorship or leadership networks).
29
< 50 You are early in your journey toward leadership development and may be ambivalent about whether you wish to adopt a formal leadership role. This score may reflect the need to acquire a range of different competencies to support leadership aspirations, or may indicate that your self-perception is that you need to develop such skills, or may reflect a general dislike of traditional leadership roles. Self reflection may guide your next steps, and affect whether you choose to pursue development of some of these skills, seek external assessment of your competencies (to determine whether your self-reflection is accurate), or whether you prefer to pursue aspirations other than traditional leadership roles.
