CERTIFICATION OF 5G CUSTOMER PREMISE EQUIPMENT (CPE) UNDER INTERIM APPROVAL

Announcement Date: 6^th October 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

Upon direction from MCMC, 5G Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) or also known as 5G User Equipment (UE) may now be certified. The 5G CPE shall meet the following conditions:

1.     Only applicable for 5G ready Smart Phones and CPEs (UEs).

2.    5G feature shall comply to relevant 3GPP Release 15 or above (proven through submission of test report), and product must support at least one of these frequencies:

3.    In addition, the 5G product may operate in any other bands than mentioned above, as long as it identifies with other IMT system bands in Malaysia as specified in MCMC Spectrum Plan. (Please inform in your application if you wish to certify other IMT bands of your product for 5G).

4.    Other scopes of the product must comply to related MCMC Technical Code (e.g. 2G, 3G, LTE, WiFi etc.) as per stated in Certification Requirement document.

5.    Maximum validity period is 1 year.

6.    5G CPEs that meet the above application shall be granted with interim Type Approval.

7.    As for the general certification requirements, kindly refer to the attached Certification Requirements.

For products other than smart phones and CPEs, the product requires Special Approval from MCMC before can be applied for Type Approval with SIRIM.

The interim approval shall take effect until the Technical Code for 5G UE has been published, or upon direction by MCMC.
