  Garrigan Park playground needs to be replaced due to the aging equipment. Consultation on the design of the playground commenced on Feb. 8, 2023, with an online public meeting and from Feb. 8 to March 2, feedback on two playground design options was collected in an online survey. Public feedback was collected from over eight respondents during the consultation period.

  Feedback highlights

  • Slides, swings, and monkey bars were the top favourite components from the old play equipment.
  • When asked to rank the playground design preference, respondents ranked Option 1 (57%) and Option 2 (43%).
  • If budget permits, many respondents would like some more playground options that provide a wider age range and ability. There was some interest in the small dome climber as it provides imaginative and flexible play.
  • There were several requests for an outdoor ice rink and splash pad.
    • These amenities are not proposed as part of the playground improvement. Please refer to the City’s website on how to initiate a community-operated outdoor rink and the Park and Recreation Master Plan on the planned splash pad locations
