What you will gain
Would you like to work as a Treaty Annuity Payment student this summer? What are the Treaty Annuity Payments? Annually Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) employees distribute payments on a national basis to registered Indians who are entitled to treaty annuities through membership to bands that have signed historic treaties with the Crown.
You will have the opportunity to:
• travel to various First Nation communities
• familiarize yourself with some of the diverse First Nations cultures
• be actively involved in the Treaty relationship between Indigenous people and the Canadian government

What you will do
Typical tasks may include:
• corresponding and liaising with First Nations to obtain dates and time of Treaty Pay
• corresponding and liaising with Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to confirm attendance
• coordinating and making travel arrangements for volunteers
• travelling to First Nations communities
• distribution of Treaty Pay to First Nation members
• reconciliation of Treaty Pay lists
• data input
Duration: Full-time from approximately April 27th to August 31st, 2020
What we are looking for
Indigenous post-secondary students who are studying in various fields but preference maybe given to students studying in one of the following areas of study: Aboriginal/Indigenous studies, anthropology, business administration, history, human science, public administration, finance, accounting, office administration or social sciences.

Conditions of Employment
Conditions of employment are any requirements that must be met or complied with before being hired to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
• You must be willing to travel as many of the First Nation communities are remote and isolated.
• A valid Driver’s License may be required in some work locations
Additional Information
TRAVEL: Most of the student positions require travel and living in hotels/motels/other accommodation. These arrangements including meal expenses are arranged and paid by Indigenous Services Canada.
