H.E. Beriault School Newsletter June 2022

Administrator's Message

Dear HEB Families,

For one last time I would like to give gratitude to the communities that serve our wonderful school. The last four years have been like no other that I can remember in my teaching career. As a school community we have all learned from these past experiences and as a result H. E. Beriault staff and students have also grown. As I look into the future for our wonderful school, I see great things on the horizon and fantastic educational experiences for your children. Thank all of you for allowing me to serve your families in education. I wish you many summer blessings.

Once a Bear always a Bear!!!!

God Bless

Dale Astill, Astill

A Message from HEB's New Principal

Hello H.E.Beriault Community!!

I wanted to take a moment to briefly state how excited I am to be joining you as Principal of H.E.Beriault next year. The enthusiasm and excitement that comes with starting a new job is special, and I get to share those feelings with two new teachers that will also be joining our staff for the 2022-2023 school year.

Haley Carlson will be teaching LA/ Science, and Maia de Borja will be teaching LA and Social! Welcome Haley and Maia to the H.E. Beriault staff and community!

We are thrilled to have you both join the strong team of teachers at H.E.B.

Best wishes for a wonderful summer!

Leon Vandendooren

Staff Farewells

As the school year draws to a close, we would like to take the time to thank the staff members who are moving on to pursue new opportunities within the Edmonton Catholic School Division.

Mrs. Barb Brilz is a dedicated teacher who wears many different hats at HEB. As well as a classroom teacher, Mrs. Brilz is our Chaplain, Tech Coach and ELL lead teacher. In her time at HEB she has always supported her students and encouraged them to strive for excellence. We wish her well in her new role at Christ the King School.

Mrs. Erin Craig is an enthusiastic classroom teacher and the Learning Coach at HEB. She coordinates supports for all of the students at our school and is an excellent advocate for our students. HEB's loss is St. Oscar Romero's gain. We wish her good luck in her new role.

Our principal, Dale Astill is also moving to become the principal of Holy Trinity High School. In his time here, Mr. Astill could always be seen out on supervision greeting students in the morning and afterschool. He has been an excellent leader who cares deeply for the students of HEB. He will be missed.

Welcome to Our New Staff!

For the 2022 -2023 school year, we would like to welcome:

Our new principal Mr. Leon Vandendooren who is joining us from St. Oscar Romero.

Teachers Ms. Maia De Borja and Dr. Haley Carlson.

Homeroom Configurations for 2022-2023

We are happy to announce that we will be returning to our pre-pandemic homeroom configurations for next year. Students will be in mixed classes for homeroom and religion/health classes and then will be in a different class for core subjects and PE. The EAP students will be in one class and the remaining students will be sorted into evenly balanced classes. We thank our staff for the great effort that they put into creating classes which will allow all students to find success at HEB.

All students require Physical Education clothing (indoor shoes, t-shirt, sweats or shorts) which they must change into for every class. Students must also bring a lock to lock up their valuables in a P.E. locker during gym class.
