Mentoring Interest Form
Thank you for your interest in mentoring an undergraduate student at the Evolution meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Saturday, June 24, 2023. This experience provides a chance to have a direct impact on the careers of young scientists through providing guidance and helping them network at the conference!

If matched with an undergraduate mentee, you will be expected to:

Before the meeting:
-Attend a brief virtual training session with SSE organizers in early June to discuss how to help your mentee make the most of their day at the conference
-Have a virtual meeting in early-mid June with your mentee to get to know each other and give general advice as to how to navigate a meeting, build a tentative talk schedule, etc.

On June 24:
-Meet your mentee at the convention center to help them check in and get oriented.
-Attend presentations with your mentee.
-Have lunch with your mentee (GSAC can help coordinate groups of mentor-mentee pairs) (mentors are NOT expected to buy lunch for their mentee).
-(Possibly) attend an evening social with your mentee (details TBD).

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis but are due by May 30. Please email Cathy Hernandez (catherine.hernandez@yale.edu) with any questions.
