Building the foundation 
for the future

Ruđer Bošković Technical School is a vocational school from Zagreb that educates students in computer science, electronics, mechatronics and ophthalmics. The students wanted to share their knowledge with the world via a podcast, and learn a few things about recording, editing and publishing digital content on the way, all the while having fun and encouraging collaboration between teachers and students. We were glad to help!

Moto Club Familija was our first project in Montenegro. Folks from the Moto Club have an amazing initiative where they deliver school supplies to kids in need across Montenegro – especially the ones living in remote villages and towns. The club delivers the supplies on their motorbikes, of course! Infinum Foundation loved being a part of it.

Psihomnia is an umbrella organization of psychology students in the Republic of Croatia. The idea behind their Movie Nights initiative was to educate a broader audience on different psychological issues and reduce the stigma usually associated with them. The plan was easy – screen a movie that depicts some psychological phenomena and then have an informal discussion around it. It sounded great, so we helped with the organization.

LIADO  is a verified art and design program for gifted elementary school students, founded in 1992 in the city of Rijeka. The group wanted to provide their gifted students with the opportunity to learn specific art techniques, so we helped them with the purchase of the ceramic furnace required for three-dimensional molding.

Educational home Bedekovčina, a permanent home for 12 children without adequate parental care or with behavioral problems, and a half-day stay service for 70 more, reached out to us to donate some of our tech equipment to them – without any mobile phones, tablets or laptops, these kids were under even greater risk of social isolation. Infinum Foundation sent them some in the hope that it would bring a smile to their faces.

The association “Basketball City” was founded in the city of Zadar as a volunteer movement of basketball enthusiasts. The idea was to promote basketball as part of their city’ tradition and civic identity. With this project, together with nutritionists and sport psychologists, the association wanted to educate young players on the importance of healthy eating habits, as well as their mental health. Great cause, and we were thrilled to help!

Foliot is a non-profit organization founded in 2006 with the goal of developing creativity, activism and independence with children and adults in the City of Kastav and the surrounding area. Their project “A small map of possibilities” is a program for supporting students, children and young people in making decisions related to education, training and employment. We were glad to have been able to support this great initiative!

“ZIPKA” Association of foster parents of Varaždin County was founded in 2007 with the aim of promoting, developing and improving foster care for children and young people. Each year, they organize at least one full-day trip to the coast for children and their foster parents. Infinum Foundation jumped in with the travel costs.

“Dobro dobrim” is an association founded with the aim of protecting, promoting and improving the quality of life of families living at risk of poverty and social exclusion. The association operates in the entire territory of the Republic of Croatia, but in 2021 they directed their efforts toward the earthquake-affected areas of Banovina/Banija. Infinum Foundation helped them with a donation for the construction of a new house for one of the people who lost their homes.

The Club of Parents of Premature Children “Palčići” was founded on the initiative of parents and health professionals with the aim of helping, educating and sharing the experiences of parents of prematurely born children. In collaboration with Palčići, we helped with the purchase of a pediatric device for the Našice hospital to improve the care for prematurely born children long-term.

The foundation for local development and solidarity “Volim Križevce” brought together the residents of Križevci and the surrounding area who were determined to find solutions for the city’s betterment and development. When the group announced scholarships for students based on their excellence and social status to further improve the local community, Infinum Foundation gladly jumped in.

The association Jak kao Jakov (“As strong as Jakov”) was founded in 2011 in memory of a 13-year-old boy, Jakov Rubido, who bravely fought against a severe form of leukemia and epilepsy with great strength and spirit. The association now helps children with malignant diseases and their families. Infinum Foundation was proud to be able to support them.

School of graphics, design and media production is a secondary school in Zagreb founded in 1894. To keep their school paper in operation and give the students a chance to learn more about journalism, the school needed a better computer, so we helped them buy a new one.

At the Karlovac daycare centre more than 45 children needed logopedic assistance. Their speech therapist wanted to try Kokolingo – a digital exercise book made for kids and parents to make speech therapy easy and fun. Infinum Foundation sponsored the licence. 

When Mali Medo daycare center moved to a new building, there weren’t many resources left for getting toys for the children. One of the teachers reached out to us to help them with purchasing new didactic toys because “the space alone won’t teach the kids new things”. So we did.

Libera is a Croatian Association for education, entrepreneurship and international cooperation. After Zagreb was hit by an earthquake in the midst of the pandemic, Libera started a project for empowering children to overcome their fears with animal-assisted therapy. Feeling strongly about preventing future mental health issues with kids who’ve gone through this, we helped with organizational costs.

Young Technicians Club has a decade-long tradition of helping children and the elderly learn more about information science, electronics, and digital photography. One of their projects focused on teaching how to build a smart watering system for house plants using IoT technology. With a little help from our side, it was a success!

Most members of Chess Club Slaven from the Croatian city of Vukovar are enthusiastic young players aged between 7 and 16. We helped out with travel costs so Slaven’s team could compete at the national championship for cadets. We hope they had a great time!

A nonprofit has been running a project called “I’ll tell you a story” since 2015. Volunteers would visit children in hospitals and read them stories. COVID put a stop to visits, but these volunteers figured out a way to continue supporting kids in hospitals – with a booklet containing stories, engaging activities, and workshops that can be used by hospital staff.

The rehabilitation center Silver trains assistance dogs for the rehabilitation of disabled persons and children with developmental difficulties. The COVID measures in place would reduce the number of children going to therapy at the same, so they needed to clear and equip additional rooms. We were happy to help!

For most children in foster care, the holiday season is nothing to look forward to. The fun and energetic folks from the Institute for STEM education wanted to change this, so they organized STEM workshops for the kids. They just needed some help in getting all the tools they needed.

The nonprofit Ozana works on improving the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families. When working with children, they practice Waldorf education and adjust their approach to the specific needs of each individual. This time, they turned to us because they wanted to build a multimedial library for their day-to-day work with children aged 3 to 7.

This non-profit organizes STEM workshops for children of all ages. They’ve been doing it for years, visiting different cities in Croatia. During workshops, the kids use Raspberry PIs, Arduino boards, soldering irons, and similar tools. The organization needed some help with financing additional materials and equipment. They had us at Raspberry.

The Croatian association for training guide dogs needed resources for training five therapy dogs for five children with developmental difficulties. After 15 months of socialisation, four months of training, and two months of education for the kids’ parents, each child gets a life companion.

A nonprofit that works with horses to help children with cerebral palsy needed funding to build an additional therapy trail with 13 therapy points. Being on a moving horse and experiencing rhythmic movement can help the rider develop better balance and increased strength.

A group of psychology students created a nonprofit organization called “Kako si?” (How are you?) to offer support to elementary and high school students. They organize workshops for coping with different challenges of growing up, the stress of exams, and the pandemic.

RokOtok was conceived in the memory of father and son and their adventures, interrupted by the son Rok’s too early departure. We supported this unique initiative that promotes an active and healthy lifestyle for children.

Everyone can and should be doing sports. We supported a program for children with an autism spectrum disorder so they can practice tennis and have fun together.

We helped the association Sunce build an inclusive playground for kids to socialize. The project was envisioned to suit the needs of autistic children and make their daily lives easier.

We volunteered at the annual event where families visit and adopt homeless pets. Our employees also collected funds for equipping the shelter, and the company contributed with a matching donation.

Our dear friends at the computer science club Net do an amazing job at teaching kids programming and robotics. We supported the work of this award-winning club with a donation. More robots for them!

Looking after children and young people with disabilities, this association is a second home for many youngsters. With our support, their lives are changing for the better.

Every year, the DIH association organizes fundraising to help collect school equipment for children in need. Our donation covered books and school supplies for five kids.
