In late 2021, Ontario became the first jurisdiction in Canada to pass a law requiring employers to have a “disconnecting from work” policy. This law went into effect on June 2, 2022 and applies to every provincially regulated employer in Ontario that has 25 or more employees.

Dentons Canada’s Employment and Labour group has developed a ready-to-use Ontario Disconnecting from Work Policy template that can be easily integrated into your employee policy handbook as is and/or with updates to add scenarios specific to your organization.
