In this session, we focus upon multicultural collaboration and solidarity in major global cities, embracing residents of diverse cultures and ethnicities. We will also focus upon the great impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in such cities restricting people’s travel and movements, and we therefore examine how the restrictions came into play in vulnerable ethnic groups. Migration has delivered a heated and complex discussion that has had to come to terms with both the positive and negative impacts of migration upon local communities. Some local activities have seen results of greater cooperation and collaboration between groups of different national or cultural backgrounds, and some of these newer activities and events have become attractive across the entire metropolis for their urban amenities. Consider, some distinctive ethnic towns have vitalised the wider local community. In other words, we are concerned with the mechanisms by which the urban community is regenerated, how distinct areas within the wider urban network become attractive to visitors, and the contribution made by ethnic businesses or other ethnically shaped or motivated activities. We would like to take account of some case studies for comparison and share the results of our investigations.
