CONTEST RULES
Please review the contest rules and regulations and acknowledge that you have read and fully understood them below. *REQUIRED*
1) General
The Indigenous Sport Physical Activity and Recreation Council’s (I·SPARC) photo contest is governed by these rules and regulations. By entering the contest, you agree to be bound by these rules and regulations. All winners will be selected by the contest administrators (I·SPARC, and a panel of judges they select). The grand prize winners will be chosen and evaluated based on the following judging criteria: composition, subject matter, content/originality, technical quality and visual impact. All decisions of the contest judges are final. Submissions chosen as a winner, will have to provide a consent form in order to receive a prize.
2) Eligibility
The contest is open to photographers of all ages and abilities.
3) Entries
All entries are intended to be viewed by the general public. Entrants are fully responsible for the photographs they submit. Contest administrators reserve the right to disqualify, at their sole discretion, any photographic entries that are offensive or do not fall within the rules. Contest closes May 6, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.
• Photographs must be original material (ie. taken by the you).
• Photos must display Indigenous school aged youth (K-7) demonstrating the listed activities.
• All photos must be submitted electronically as .jpg or .png files.
• Photos should be 1200x800 or 800x1200 in size and a minimum of 2 MB and 300 DPI.
• Photos are accepted using this form (preferred), or they can be emailed to kpatton@isparc.ca.
• Digital files can be submitted in vertical or horizontal format.
• Content alteration is not acceptable. Cropping and tonal or colour corrections are permitted.
• Photos should be named as follows: firstnname-lastname-category. If you have multiples for a category then use a number at the end (ex. firstname-lastnname-pickberries2).
Contest administrators may require a high-resolution version of the winning entries if they are not submitted. Entrants who fail to provide a high-resolution file for a selected image within the time period the administrator sets, will forfeit the prize and an alternate winner will be selected. In such a case, no substitute or alternate prize will be awarded. All entries become the property of I·SPARC and will not be returned.
4) Image Publication
By entering and participating in the contest, you consent the use of your photograph(s) by I·SPARC for promotional use, during or after the contest closing date, without compensation. This includes use of the photograph(s), from all entrants, for future promotional materials related to I·SPARC - print, electronic marketing and activities such as online images, social media content, promotional activities brochures, booklets, videos, annual reports, posters, newspaper ads, television ads, emails, and banners. Consent forms are the responsibility of the entrant and must be submitted for all entries.
5) Copyright
Photographic entries must not infringe upon or violate any laws or any third-party rights, including, but not limited to copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret or other proprietary rights and must not constitute material that would be considered libelling, defamatory, or a privacy violation. Entrants must obtain all necessary permissions, licenses, clearances, releases, waivers of moral rights and other approvals from third parties (including but not limited to all copyright holders and all individuals appearing in the submission). Any and all such permissions, licenses, clearances, releases, waivers of moral rights and approvals must be included with each photo submission.
By participating in this contest, each subject and photographer hereby grants I∙SPARC, or its affiliated bodies the right to use, without payment of any fee or charge, any written information (excluding information contained on a medical form), photograph, video, or other visual media of myself / my child, submitted for the purpose of furthering I∙SPARC objectives. Furthermore, I grant permission to I∙SPARC, or its affiliated bodies to use this material to promote I∙SPARC and I∙SPARC programs and activities through the media of newsletters, websites, television, film, radio, print and / or display form.
6) Technical
The contest administrators are excluded from all liability for any personal injury, loss or damage of whatever kind (including loss of data) caused directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from uploading photographic entries and material to the contest website. The contest administrators are not responsible for any failure of the contest website during the contest, problems or technical malfunctions of computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software or any e-mail, online or internet entry lost due to technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from uploading any photographic entry to the contest.
7) Prizes
Grand prizes of $25 Visa gift certificates will be mailed to the winners whose photos will also be featured on a set of activity cards linking Indigenous cultural sports and activities to physical literacy. The grand prize winners will also receive a set of the printed activity cards. Every photo submitted will also be entered into a draw for three prizes of $100 Visa gift cards. Submissions chosen as a winner, must have provide a consent form in order to receive a prize. If a consent form cannot be provided, within the time period requested, an alternate photo will be chosen with a consent form and, if provided, that submission will win the prize.
8) Limitation of Liability
By entering this contest, I agree to HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY I∙SPARC, the event host partners, organizers and / or its agents from any and all actions, claims, demands, losses, judgments or costs of any nature to any third party resulting from my association with the I∙SPARC-sanctioned event and I agree not to make any claims or take any proceedings against any person, society, corporation or other legal entity who might claim contribution or indemnity from I∙SPARC, the organizers and / or its agents in respect of matters which are subject of this Release. I agree that this Release shall bind my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.
9) Privacy
I understand that I∙SPARC and its affiliated bodies respect the privacy and personal information of all participants and that they will collect a limited amount of personal information for the purpose of carrying out their responsibilities as a facilitator of sport, recreation and physical activity programs. I consent to the collection of this information and its use by I∙SPARC, or its affiliated bodies, for the purposes related to various events / programs throughout the year and to communicate to me about future events and activities.
10) Assumption of Risk
In consideration of my participation or my child’s participation in this I·SPARC program and all of its related activities, I acknowledge and I am aware of, appreciate, and accept the inherent physical risks and the other possible risks, dangers and hazards associated with participating in this program. This includes the possible risk of severe or fatal injury to me, my child or others. No amount of care, caution or expertise can eliminate, including without limitation, the potential for serious bodily injury, permanent disability, paralysis and loss of life.
