We have been collectively working on Passive House since 2009. We currently have six trained professionals on staff and are equipped to practice this methodology with sufficient knowledge and experience, delivering architecture that has minimal impact on the environment.

Process and Passion

Passive House is ingrained in our methodology. It is part of who we are. With every project that comes through our door, we see an opportunity to deploy our Passive House expertise. Informing our clients who may not be aware of the tremendous opportunities that Passive House can provide.

The Passive House Standard should not be a privilege, it should be a right. The more people who are committed to Passive House, the more certified materials will be made available, which will in turn make it less of a specialty commodity, and reduce the overall cost.

The new development for the Greater Sudbury Housing Corporation / Greater City of Sudbury is located about a 15-minute drive to the northeast from the downtown core. Using principles of good urban design, strategic choices were made to better connect to the public realm.

Located in downtown Hamilton, this new mid-rise affordable housing Passive House designed building will feature a mix of one and three bedroom units with amenity space on the ground floor and a large exterior amenity outdoor garden space.

Set in the bucolic landscape of Black River in Prince Edward County, Ontario, the Endymion Guesthouse is inspired by nature. It provides low energy costs and highly filtered fresh air to its inhabitants and responds to the environment, landscape and its occupant’s health much more sensitively than most traditionally built houses.

This project redefines the way people think of energy efficient design within the context of providing affordable housing. The Putman Family YWCA is designed to the Passive House International Standard as it mobilizes YWCA’s core values of providing comfortable, healthy, secure, resilient and safe housing for women.

Meadowbrook Lane Passive House Community Affordable Housing Residence

Ontario’s largest Passive House complex under construction. Designed to the Passive House Standard this 10-storey residential complex brings much needed affordable housing to the city of Windsor.

The Reach Guesthouse

This project was a journey, as most renovations tend to be. Yet despite the slow progress of the project we managed to create a systematic combination of ‘archaeological’ discovery, preservation, encapsulation and architectural re-interpretation. The original building was reduced to its barest hand hewn wooden structure, meticulously cleaned and sealed inside an airtight skin.
