Workshop Objective and Overall Expectations of Participants

Peer review of advanced draft chapters and practice notes for the Routledge International Handbook on Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement is our main objective. The organisers/editors assign 1 or 2 lead discussants for each chapter. Discussants will read the chapters in detail. Everyone else is expected to have read all chapters at a general level and contribute to all discussions.

Contributors of the Routledge International Handbook on Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement (e.g., editors and co-authors of the chapters and practice notes)

Where?

The workshop will have a hybrid format, meaning that some contributors will be attending the event in person; others will be participating remotely. The in person sessions will take place at the University of Southern Denmark (Main building Campusvej 55) in Odense, Denmark: 

All sessions will happen in room 099 (Level 1, Building 34.1), which is quite close to the tram stop at SDU. Pls check the SDU Campus MAP to find its precise location on campus.

The links for online participation will be shared with all registered contributors and made available below in the program.

 

How to prepare for the workshop?

In Person participants are required to:

  1 Submit the advanced drafts of their chapters or practice notes to their handling editor by email (cc'ing the co-editor Alberto's email] by March 31. If you are unable to meet the deadline, please liaise with your handling editor as soon as possible;

  2 Read all papers;

  3 Please prepare particularly carefully for the drafts for which you will act as a discussant. Discussant tasks will be assigned around mid-April.;

  4 Fill out the online survey; and

  5 Engage!

Remote participants are required to:

  1 Submit the advanced drafts of their chapters or practice notes to their handling editor by email (cc'ing the co-editor Alberto's email) by March 31. If you are unable to meet the deadline, please liaise with your handling editor as soon as possible;

  2 By 06 April, communicate to the handling editor by email (cc'ing the co-editor Alberto's email) your intention to register as a remote participant, and indicate your availability to attend the workshop sessions in the local time of Odense, Denmark (GMT+2) on April 25 (afternoon), April 26 (morning and afternoon) and April 27 (morning);

  3 Read the papers of your session;

  4 Fill out the online survey; and

  5 Engage! (remotely; links will be shared in the next few weeks).

 

Session Format and Participant Roles

  • Session duration: Up to 40 minutes (chapters) or 30 minutes (practice notes);

  • Chair: Introduces the presenter, the discussant and other participants, explains how the session will work, manages time and moderates the session;

  • Presenter: Briefly presents the paper, its key points and contributions to the handbook and the literature (~5-10 min). The presentation can be assisted by PowerPoint slides (if slides are shared with organizers in advance in *.ppt or *.pptx format);

  • Discussants: Provide a critical review of the paper according to the Common Criteria below, comment and provide suggestions for improvements (~8-10 min each). You can use our standard peer-review form (optional, but recommended); and

  • Other participants: Comment and/or ask additional questions (~ 8-10 min).storing them in a safety deposit box or with a trusted family member so they cannot be used for impulse purchases.

Common criteria for peer-reviews

  1. Is the chapter/practice note objective clear? 

  2. Are the methods explicit and understandable?

  3. Are findings grounded in the literature/methods? 

  4. How would you improve this chapter/practice note?

  5. Who do you think would be the ideal reviewer for the chapter/practice note?
