About the Awards
For over a decade the KPU Alumni Association has had the pleasure of recognizing many exceptional alumni. We encourage anyone to nominate KPU alumni who have demonstrated excellence through their achievements.
Consideration for these awards is given to individuals who have enhanced the reputation of the university through their outstanding professional, business or industry endeavours; public, community and/or volunteer service.

NOTE: Nominations for the Distinguished Alumni, Alumni Excellence
and Outstanding Young Alumni Awards must be received by February 2,
2024.

Distinguished Alumni Award - recognises a lifetime of achievements
Recognizes KPU alumni demonstrating life time accomplishments in one or more of the areas noted below:
- Professional, entrepreneurial, innovation
- Arts and Culture
- Academic and/or research success
- Trades and/or Applied Technology
- Service: public, community and/or volunteer
- Exemplified resilience in the face of adversity
- Significant contribution on a regional, national or international level
Alumni Excellence Award - recognises recent accomplishments
Recognizes specific accomplishments of Kwantlen Polytechnic University alumni within 18 months prior to the nomination deadline. (From August 2022 for the 2024 Awards cycle).
Accomplishments may include:
- Major awards
- National or international honours
- Major championships
- Appointment to high office, etc.
Outstanding Young Alumni Award - recognises community involvement
Recognizes KPU alumni under 30 years of age at the time of nomination and who have:
- Demonstrated sustained levels of community service while making a significant or innovative impact in their chosen profession
- Maintained Involvement with KPU or alumni activities since graduation will be considered an asset.
- Leads with purpose
Future Alumni Award
Recognizes future KPU alumni who are KPU students at the time of nomination:
- Are identified for significant service, leadership, and vocational achievement at KPU.
NOTE: This award is moderated by the Student Leadership Awards Selection Committee comprised of KPU faculty, staff and KPU Alumni Association board directors.
Honorary Alumni
Recognizes individuals in our communities who have made a significant contribution toward KPU and whose activities are aligned with the KPU Alumni Association mission
NOTE: This award is moderated by the KPU Alumni Association Tributes Committee, and is designated at the discretion of the KPU Alumni Association board of directors.
