Dear CPF Member:

Bonjour, Hello, Aanii

And just like that, it’s July … and so begin the “Dog Days of Summer”, which traditionally refers to a period of particularly hot and humid weather.
I’m writing to you from Ottawa on the unceded lands of the Anishinaabe people where we are preparing for the CPF National Annual General Business Meeting (AGM). It is scheduled to take place with a hybrid model, in person from Edmonton, AB, on Sunday, August 21 to begin at 11 am MDT (Mountain Time Zone) as well as accessible via Zoom for virtual attendance.

The meeting is open to all CPF members as well as guests; only designated CPF Voting Delegates have voting privileges during the meeting. To participate virtually, you must register in advance via this link. In-person attendance is taken on-site as of one hour prior to the meeting start time at the registration desk.

You can find the AGM meeting materials posted on the CPF National website via this link. These include the AGM agenda, the previous year’s AGM minutes, National committee annual reports, proposed bylaw amendments and the audited financial statements.

We welcome your questions in advance of the AGM; please send them to Derrek Bentley, CPF National President and AGM Chair at dbentley@cpf.ca.

Voting Delegates will vote on the following items during the meeting:
  1. Approval of the AGM Agenda 2022 Minutes from 2021, Officer and Committee reports;
  2. The appointment of the auditors for the 2022-23 fiscal year;
  3. The ratification the National Board Directors as well as the Officers to the positions of President and Vice President for 2022-2023;
  4. Proposed Amendments to the CPF National Bylaw No.1.
Pending ratification, the following individuals (whose bios are also available on the CPF National website) will be serving on the CPF National Board of Directors for 2022-23:
  • Salma Al-Saquaf
  • Diane Tijman
  • Wendy Carr
  • Larry Vaters

Do join the meeting to help us thank these individuals for their important contributions to our organization.

CPF Network Member Virtual Conference 2022 - “French: More than Words!” - October 13-16
After the success of the virtual 2020 conference, CPF National will once again host the CPF Member Conference program virtually in 2022. This format allows us to engage a broader participation of CPF members, volunteers and stakeholders, while targeting our budget toward delivering exciting speakers.

The 2022 event will extend over a three-day period taking into consideration time zone differences, offering both pre-recorded and live sessions. The program sessions will focus on a parent and youth audience, divided into 4 categories, giving participants the chance to customize their experience. The strands are:
  • Youth Opportunities to Learn and Use French
  • Sharing Program Ideas and Volunteer Networking
  • Sharing Advocacy Experiences
  • Parenting, Wellbeing and Resiliency

Conference Registration and Fees - Program access will be set at the cost of $25.00 or free for current CPF Members. Registration will be advertised with our ‘Back to School’ communications in September, 2022.
