My thesis in 400 words: Benjamin Leblanc

Benjamin Leblanc, an iREx student, completed his M.Sc. in December 2021 at Bishop's University. He worked on the interiors of giant planets of our Solar System. He summarised his Master's thesis for us in 400 words.

A new graduate student at iREx

The iREx welcomes a new student this winter! Katherine Thibault will be starting a Master's degree at the Université de Montréal, under the supervision of David Lafrenière. She will be working on the search for planets around white dwarfs with the Webb Telescope. Welcome to the team, Katherine!
A major grant for Jonathan Gagné

Jonathan Gagné, iREx associate member and Scientific Advisor at the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, has been awarded an NSERC Discovery Grant. This grant will allow him to expand his team. Congratulations, Jonathan!

An event for Cégep students

The iREx invites Cégep students to the Soirée d'initiation à la recherche en astrophysique, live on Zoom on Wednesday, February 16th at 7pm, to learn more about our physics program and astrophysics research at the Université de Montréal.

Exoplanets in schools: Test our activities!

One year has passed since the start of our “Exoplanets in schools” project, whose objective is to create educational resources on exoplanets and the search for life for elementary and secondary school staff in Quebec.  We are currently in a testing period for our activities and are recruiting school staff to help us out!
