The
Lafontaine Lab (
Www.LafontaineLab.Com) at the
Université libre de Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium is looking to recruit a post-doctoral researcher with expertise in developmental biology to model
ribosome biogenesis dysfunction diseases (ribosomopathies) in animals. The laboratory is located 50km South of Brussels, the heart of Europe, at the Biopark campus.
You
You have an outstanding publication track record in developmental biology, ideally in neurobiology. You have extensive experience with
Xenopus models both
laevis and
tropicalis. You are very well-experienced with interference-based approaches (MO, overexpression) and genome manipulations (CRISPR/Cas9, base editor etc.). Ideally, you also have an interest to implement
in vitro tissue engineering. You have basic or expert knowledge in RNA molecular biology.
The job
You will be responsible for producing animal models of human diseases caused by ribosome biogenesis dysfunction, the so-called
ribosomopathies. Ribosomopathies are tissue-specific diseases caused by mutations in ribosomal proteins or ribosome assembly factors. Your work will involve depletion-based and genome manipulation approaches. The models will be used to characterize early embryogenesis, and several aspects of RNA biology.
In vitro tissue engineering will also be used.
Eligibility
1) You are the recipient of a PhD in developmental biology obtained less than 8 years ago,
2) You are in international scientific mobility, i.e. you have not resided or work for more than 24 months in Belgium during the last 3 years.
How to apply
Applications will be accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae including a complete list of publications, a one-page summary of research accomplishments and interests, and the names and contact details of three references. A single PDF document should be sent to Prof Denis Lafontaine, with Subject line: #Xenopus2022
