TODAY is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day recognizes and commemorates the tragic history of residential schools, which 150,000+ Indigenous children were forced to attend between the 1870s and 1997. Click here for three ways you can commemorate the day.

Nicole Weckman joining ChemE in Jan 2023
Nicole Weckman (ISTEP, ChemE) has been appointed the Paul Cadario Chair in Global Engineering. Starting in Jan 2023, she will advance engineering solutions for vulnerable communities all over the world.
LLE with Kelly Stevens
On Wed, Oct 5 from 12-1PM, Kelly Stevens from the University of Washington will be giving our first LLE talk of the season titled, Engineering Human Organoids, Organs, and Societies.
Congratulations to Sourojeet Chakraborty
Sourojeet Chakraborty (ChemE PhD candidate) will be presenting his research on a new theory to successfully predict the design of emulsions with targeted shelf-lives at the upcoming 2022 AIChE Annual Meeting.
CEGSA Thanksgiving Lunch
On Thu Oct 6 from 12-2PM in the grad common room, CEGSA will be hosting its Thanksgiving Lunch (Thai flavoured). Sign up if you plan to attend. The cost is $5 without your own tupperware or canned food donation.

Thefts occur periodically in U of T buildings. Please ensure that rooms are locked following after-hour use and that personal belongings and attractive items and equipment are secured and stored out-of-sight as much as possible.

SAVE THE DATE: Hot Drink for Thought
ChemE's Teaching Effectiveness Committee will be hosting a new series called Hot Drink for Thought throughout the academic year. The first session will be held on Tue Oct 11 from 3-4PM (room TBD) and will review the content and delivery of lab courses with the objective to 1) share this information with everyone; and 2) identify professors whose courses could benefit from these labs.

The 2022-23 Centralized Process for Student Initiative Funding (CPSIF) is now accepting applications. The deadline to apply is 12PM on Mon Oct 3.

OWWA Trivia Night
The Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA) U of T Student Chapter is inviting you to join its Water Trivia Night on Wed Oct 5 at 5:30PM. This is a good opportunity to test your water trivia knowledge and cooperate with other students and young professionals. Prizes will be offered to the winning team. There will also be food and a raffle.

New student advisory group
The Office of the Vice-Provost, Strategic Enrolment Management is looking for students to join its newly created Student Advisory Group to provide meaningful input on enrolment and registrar policies, processes, and initiatives. Applications will be accepted until Fri Oct 7.

ISTEP is excited to recommence the Fred Kan Distinguished Lecture series with a talk by Jason Millar, Canada Research Chair in the Ethical Engineering of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. The hybrid event will take place on Mon Oct 3 starting at 6:30PM. Registration required.
