Capacity limits increase for various activities in Quebec on Monday

This next step in the province's deconfinement plan will also see some activities reopen.

The latest phase of Quebec’s deconfinement plan will see a partial reopening of some activities across the province and capacity increases for others on Monday.

The changes come three weeks before most restrictions, including the vaccine passport, are set to be lifted as Quebec continues to observe a decrease in COVID-19 hospitalizations.

As of Monday:

  • Stores can open at 100 per cent capacity.
  • The Bell Centre and other large venues can allow up to 50 per cent audience capacity, with 100 per cent envisioned for March 14. Health protocols must be followed for audiences of 1,000 or more.
  • Capacity in places of worship increases to 500 people or 50 per cent regular capacity, whichever is lower. Funeral services may accommodate a rolling limit of 50 people at a time. The vaccine passport is no longer be required in places of worship.
  • Meetings and conventions in public halls are permitted with vaccine passports, at 50 per cent capacity or a maximum of 500 people. There will be no size limit as of Feb. 28.
  • Private meetings in rented halls may resume with vaccine passports for up to 50 people.
  • Recreation centres such as arcades, water and amusement parks and bowling alleys are permitted to open at 50 per cent capacity.
