Quebec eases some COVID-19 restrictions Monday

Restaurant dining rooms can reopen at 50 per cent capacity.

Quebecers woke up on Monday morning able, in a limited fashion, to entertain in their homes, eat in restaurants and visit the zoo as the easing of several of the province’s COVID-19 health restrictions went into effect.

Occupants of two residences, or a maximum of four people, may gather in a private residence, although its is strongly recommended everyone be adequately vaccinated.

Vaccine passports are mandatory to access restaurant dining rooms. The indoor capacity of those dining rooms is reduced by 50 per cent. Physical distancing of one metre between tables must also be respected.

Restaurants must close at midnight and orders for food or drink end at 11 p.m.

Bars, taverns and casinos remain closed for the time being. The serving of alcohol in distilleries and microbreweries is also banned.

Beginning Monday, aquariums, botanical gardens, insectariums and zoos are allowed to operate, but at 50 per cent capacity.

Extracurricular activities resume in primary and secondary schools, but inter-school activities, parties and sports tournaments remain forbidden. Recreational and sports activities for participants younger than 18 are permitted for groups of no more than 25.

Training centres for student athletes have reopened and access to recreation centres for sports study programs is permitted. Vaccine passports are mandatory for users 13 and older.

Adult education and training centres may resume extracurricular activities but participants must produce a vaccine passport.
