NBCC International Student Guard.me Opt Out


Note: Guard.me opt-outs for the Spring 2024 intake will be accepted from April 8 to May 3, 2024.

Late opt-outs or opt-outs submitted by email will NOT be accepted.

All Spring 2024 policies will be effective April 20, 2024, through, April 19, 2025, and will be issued by Guard.Me directly during the week of May 20, 2024.

International Student Guard.me

All active international students are required to hold the Guard.me Canada Plan from the first day of their Academic Term unless they can meet the opt-out requirements below.

If you can answer YES to the following question, you can submit an opt-out request via the form below.

  • I have valid New Brunswick Medicare coverage through the end of my academic studies in this year, OR

If your New Brunswick Medicare coverage expires before the last day of your studies for this academic year, an opt-out is NOT available, and it is your responsibility to ensure you reapply for New Brunswick Medicare in advance of its expiry.  Applications for Medicare renewal are not accepted for the purposes of opting out.
