Bio
Kristen earned her Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta, where she was awarded the Dean Wilbur Fee Bowker Prize in Tort Law. She previously earned a Bachelor of Health Sciences, Health and Society from the University Calgary, graduating with Honours.
Kristen’s professional experience includes working as a Summer Student at McLennan Ross where she was responsible for conducting legal research on a variety of topics related to various areas of litigation, drafting reports and case briefs, and participating in files at all stages of litigation. Additionally, Kristen worked as a Research and Evaluation Summer Student at PolicyWise for Children and Families where she conducted qualitative research related to the health of Albertans with a focus on knowledge mobilization.
While in law school, Kristen participated in the Kawaskimhon National Moot Competition, a national negotiation focused on Aboriginal and Indigenous Law. As a participant, she and fellow students from across the country negotiated a policy for the implementation of Gladue and the reduction of Indigenous over-representation in the criminal justice system.
Prior to attending law school, Kristen conducted health research on the opioid crisis in Alberta and presented her findings at the national Issues of Substance Conference.
With a passion for community involvement, Kristen’s previous volunteer experience includes working with Student Legal Services, the Women’s Law Forum, Student Advisory Councils, and the Cumming School of Medicine.
